OSHA is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration – an organization that is part of the United States Department of Labor. It was founded in 1970, when Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health act, which was signed into law by President Nixon. OSHA is responsible for creating and enforcing rules to ensure that employees with a workplace free of external hazards that could cause injury, illness or death.
