Four of the major environmental safety and health at work areas are. indoor air quality (IAQ) issues, chemical disposal, fuel tanks / fuel and pest management.
I’ve learned to Indoor Air complaints range from uncomfortable temperature range, for fear of dirt on ceiling tiles, actual mold growing walls and unexplained illness in an entire wing of the building. One thing to make clear is this: The complaint is the real one or more persons and must be taken seriously. The culprit usually taught in the IAQ investigation is inadequate ventilation. People need to breathe fresh air is brought in from outside. Often it is the second most common complaint mold. Keeping a roof leak (or any water intrusion) under control is the best practice to reduce mold in indoor environments.
Materials and Chemical Disposal
The other contaminates are substances in the air that we breathe. Materials that are “green” approved are considered safe for the environment and the people sharing a room. Green materials are safe when compared prolonged exposure to staff who use them day after day.

This means these items can be controlled by recycling. Other materials must be disposed of as hazardous waste. It is the employers duty to determine the classification of waste and how the material is discarded. They must be very careful to do it properly to avoid serious and costly penalties and damage to the environment.
Petroleum storage and fuel tanks
Another big responsibility that employers have to keep in compliance with state and federal regulations regarding the above and below ground petroleum fuel tanks. There are many songs about parties and inform our existing tanks at their facility. There are daily, weekly, monthly and annual registration and reporting that goes into a petroleum tank owner.
Integrated Pest Management or IPM is the least toxic approach to pest control. IPM is important because no one wants to work with or around toxic or dangerous pesticides, herbicides or any other material that is designed to “kill”. And we certainly do not want to harm the environment either. It is the business owners responsibility to assist and teach all employees how to comply with the law relating to integrated pest management, so that no one possesses the dangerous pest elimination of substances in the workplace.
Environmental health and safety in the workplace is all business. Most people are not aware that issues of indoor air, chemical disposal, petroleum storage tanks, or Integrated Pest Management. But for the safety of man, these environmental big part of the job. We will continue to strive to maintain the safety of people as the main priority and the safety of our environment very close second.
